World Information:

The world of Detective Conan is very similar to that of modern Japan, though admittedly with the addition of Beika District in Tokyo and a much higher crime rate. There are hints of supernatural forces on occasion, but the main distinction is a secretive crime syndicate, the Black Organization.

Since Vermouth high up in the Organization's hierarchy, one could say that the Black Organization is her world.

Personality:

Sharon Vineyard, better know as Vermouth by those who know the Black Organization, is a woman of mystery. She likes to keep people guessing, regardless of whether they are allies or enemies. This suits her well in her double life, since one side is in the limelight and the other is in a crime group renowned for wiping out any evidence of their existence. Letting slip information could easily risk her limited freedom or her life. Practicality aside, Vermouth also enjoys the allure of being mysterious, as seen in her motto “a secret makes a woman.” She usually hides her true intent behind a carefully crafted facade.

Like most Organization members, Vermouth can be a cold and vicious criminal. She often kills her marks with a smile and occasionally taunts them. Vermouth is also quite manipulative, using intel that she knows to trick others into helping her goals. However, these acts of violence are rarely personal. Unlike certain other members, she does not outright seek to kill others without direct orders. Her attempts on Sherry's life are the main exception. However, she truly dislikes Sherry, and Vermouth has been shown to be particularly dangerous when she's actually angry. Since Vermouth has spent a great deal of time in the Black Organization, she has become very desensitized to violence. She was genuinely confused as to why someone would save a would-be killer, as it went so far outside her norms. Thus her criminal acts truly don't feel like that big a deal to her.

One of Vermouth's greatest strengths is that she is extremely clever and cunning. She seems to be one of the few Organization members to notice potential spies amongst their midst. In missions, she concocts elaborate plans to gather information with almost no trace. When stuck in a difficult situation, she can weave her way out using quick thinking and improvisation. However, she is often fooled by others’ brilliant strategies. She didn’t notice Conan pretending to be Sherry until too late and didn’t believe Akai faked his death even when the method was explained to her. While this does not speak less of Vermouth’s intelligence, her overconfidence and blasé attitude do get in the way. She is nowhere near as suspicious as Gin. Honestly, though, it does not matter to her. Since she is the Boss’s favorite, Vermouth can afford to make mistakes that would get other members killed. Also she tends to be a good sport about being outmaneuvered, taking it into stride when she realizes someone has bested her.

Unlike other members, Vermouth does not take her life of crime too seriously. She prefers to approach life with a carefree, playful attitude. Vermouth laughs openly when she feels like it, flirts when it suits her, and teases her fellow teammates. Other members hate her for it, but that doesn't stop her. Vermouth responds to threats nonchalantly, as though she doesn’t care whether she lives or dies. This hints towards her more self destructive tendencies. While acting as Sharon, she speaks in a depressive manner, claiming her life has been full of misery. Years of being stuck in a criminal organization have likely taken a toll on her morale. There is no leaving the Black Organization alive. While her position as the Boss's favorite provides her some limited freedoms, the Organization is still as much a cage for her as it is for those lower in the ranks. This might be why she keeps secrets from them and privately hopes that Conan will some day destroy the Organization.

According to Vermouth, Ran and Shinichi are the only ones she treasures. After they unknowingly saved her life in New York City, they have earned her unconditional admiration. Vermouth is fiercely protective of them, going as far as directly defying orders to keep them safe. This protection also extends to their families, since any direct connection killed by the Organization would put them at risk. Their influence may have also pushed her to reconsider her morals. She willingly promises Shinichi not to hunt Sherry anymore, despite her personal feelings towards the scientist’s research. She only breaks that promise when Shinichi's secret is in danger. She also avoids harming children, even in cases where it leaves witnesses. If there is any hope in her redemption, it lies in these two.

Vermouth's most notable skill is disguise. She can impersonate others through a mixture of makeup, latex masks, and costuming. Like Conan's mother and Kaito, she was taught by the famous magician Toichi Kuroba. As a result, her talent is on par with that of Kaitou Kid. Vermouth mainly uses this skill to infiltrate and gather information, though she has also used it to prank her fellow criminal organization members from time to time.

She is also able to imitate others' voices. While Vermouth occasionally uses a voice changer for her more difficult disguises, there have been notable instances where she doesn't. For example, she was able to fool Conan into giving her information by using Ran's voice. In this instance she switched between Asuna, Ran, and her own voice effortlessly without any motions to imply that she was using a hidden mechanism.

Like other high ranking Black Organization members, her body is stronger and has a higher pain tolerance than the average person. Likely this is due to some rigorous fighting and endurance training, though it might also be due to experimental body enhancements. Either way, she has great reflexes and endurance, able to move quickly and smoothly even when injured.

Vermouth also has excellent gun marksmanship. While no sniper, she can shoot confidently on foot or from a moving vehicle. Her precise shooting is most noticeable when she shoots at Ran to scare her away, someone she would never want to actually hit. This good aim is also seen when she plays darts. She likely has skills with some other weapons as well, since we see her using a knife in New York.

Sharon Vineyard was the name picked for the train roster due to it being the closest we have to her "real" name. Vermouth is more of a codename, and Chris Vineyard was the name she used to pretend to be her own daughter (thus hiding her strange lack of aging). However, it's still possible Sharon is yet another fake alias.

The age for this application is an estimated guess, due to canon not yet revealing her true age. Fans of the actress would believe 'Chris' was 29 years old, but Vermouth does not appear to have aged for the past 20 years. This is shown when she murdered Jodie's parents, still looking exactly the same in present time. 20 years ago is also when Sharon learned advanced disguising techniques, so it's likely that whatever cased her sudden younger appearance happened around that time. As Sharon Vineyard, she looks roughly 40. So since her official fake age isn't a round number, 44 years plus 20 brings her to 64 year old more or less.

Without the Organization's orders, Vermouth is less likely to be outright violent. Also her two favorite people are on board, which could push her to be on her best behavior. That said, there is no guarantee, and she still will not be trustworthy.
